It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Understanding the tables in The Financial Times
Ever felt intimidated by all those columns of numbers in the Financial Times and other broadsheet newspapers? All those confusing fancy technical terms! Well, you are not the only one. But, just to prove how far you have come already – with your understanding of dividends, xd, dividend cover, dividend yield, etc. – I’ll demonstrate that you can now understand those columns. Table 3.3 shows an extract from the Financial Times.
Note that the information provided in Monday’s edition of the FT is different to that for the other days of the week, with dividend in pence, dividend cover, market capitalisation as well as the dates when the shares last went ex-dividend.
