2.1 INTRODUCTION
As more people start to recognize the need for a transition to more sustainable systems, there has
been a proliferation of approaches, methods, and tools to support such change (Edwards, 2005).
However, the myriad of approaches and tools is known to be slowing the process toward sustain-
ability rather than assisting it. “Discussions about which framework is right and energy spent on
battling each other’s positions can lead to deadlocks” (Senge et al., 2007). This is quite a deep
observation by Senge because it brings the focus from the object to be changed, the unsustainable
world, to the people
