9.3. Controlling User Account Control (UAC) with Group Policy
UAC is the User Account Control feature for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. You might see it as the "annoying extra pop-up box I need to click in order to do anything useful!" Well, sometimes it might seem that way. But that's not exactly accurate. What's really happening is that you're seeing a prompt for anything that requires administrator rights (that is, that affects the entire computer and all users on that computer) in Windows Vista.
