10.1. What Is the New Power of the Group Policy Preference Extensions?

Once you run the GPMC and edit a GPO from Windows Server 2008 (or install the RSAT tools on a Windows Vista + SP1 machine, then run the GPMC, and edit a GPO), you'll notice that the normal Group Policy Editor (the GPME) you've come to know and love for years has changed.

The original nodes inside the GPME have been moved under their own node called Policies. So within that node, Policies, is the original stuff you've come to know and love, and not much has changed there. Except that all the original stuff is tucked inside of Policies now.

The new superpower stuff is stored within its own new node called Preferences. That's right, there's a new node in the Group Policy Management ...
