Whether you love the concept of competencies, hate the concept, or are unsure what they are and question if they even rise to the status of a viable concept, the fact is they have become so fully embedded in the language and practice of business and the world of work they are here to stay. It therefore makes sense to put competencies, and competency modeling, into context to help bring the concept and the approach into focus with reference to the broader frame of work analysis practices used to build platforms for assessment.
