In our case, we are interested in the efficiency of memory allocations and small fragments of code that may contain such allocations. The appropriate tool for measuring the performance of small fragments of code is a microbenchmark. There are many microbenchmark libraries and tools out there; in this book, we will use the Google Benchmark library. To follow along with the examples in this chapter, you must first download and install the library (follow the instructions in the Readme.md file). Then you can compile and run the examples.
