An exchange is responsible for taking a message and routing it into zero or more queues. Each exchange of a broker has a unique name, as well as a few other properties within a virtual host. The message-routing algorithm used depends on the exchange type and bindings. As we mentioned earlier, there are four different types of exchanges: direct, topic, fanout, and headers.
