The MX record of a domain contains the IP addresses of the mail servers that handle messages for the domain. When you send an email to a domain, for example @website.com, mail is routed to the website's MX servers.
You can use the -type=mx option to query a domain for its MX record. For example:
nslookup -type=mx website.com
It will respond with output resembling the following:
Server: 8.8.8.8 Address: 8.8.8.8
Here's the non-authoritative answer:
website.com mail exchanger = 10 website-com.mail.protection.mailserver.com
