Introduction

As you've seen throughout this book, securing a WLAN can take many forms. Remember that security is a process best deployed in layers. There is no such thing as a perfectly secured network; rather, as security professionals we aspire to create multiple levels of defense rather than a single, bulletproof solution. One of the tools in our arsenal is 802.1x. In this chapter, we will walk through the process of deploying an 802.1x infrastructure using a Windows supplicant (client), a Cisco authenticator (AP), and a Windows authentication server (IAS RADIUS).
