I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
A leader can have all the knowledge of the preceding six chapters and all the processes in place to implement these principles but there is one key aspect that underpins putting it all into practice – communication skills. In order to become a brilliant leader who can inspire and motivate your team, you need to develop and exhibit excellent communication skills as this is the glue that holds everything else together.
As we work our way through the chapter, I will address the generic skills and then discuss where and how these skills can be applied in relation to the leadership activities we have covered throughout this book.
