chapter 5Employee Selection

This chapter discusses the process for, and importance of, selecting employees. Human resource planning is the overall process that an organization uses to ensure that it has the right amount, and the right kinds, of people to deliver a particular level of output or services in the future. Failures in HR planning can lead to labor shortages, layoffs, and significant financial costs. For this reason, job analysis (discussed in the previous chapter) is of key importance in planning for the future of your organization’s labor force. By understanding what each individual in the organization actually does on a day-to-day basis, you can properly represent your organization during the recruiting process.
