This method is not discussed in the text. It is a multivariate technique based
on the maximum likelihood estimato r explained in Anfinsen et a l. (2009a)
and is reported to be superior to the standard univariate method discusse d in
Section 5.4.2. The polarimetric SAR image should be in the format generated
by the script polsaringest.py described in Section D.2.4.2 above. The use r
is asked to select (a spatial subset of) the covariance matrix file, the desired
window size (default 7 × 7) and an output filename and format. The local
ENL values are estimated in a moving window and stored as a single- band,
