IDE integrates with code sharing systems, too. Collaboration on the same code requires placing the code in a common shared location, called a source code repository or version control repository, where it can be accessed by all the team members. One of the most well-known shared repositories is a web-based version-control repository—GitHub (https://github.com/). It is based on the Git version-control system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Git). Other popular source control systems include CVS, ClearCase, Subversion, and Mercurial, to name a few.
An overview and guidance on such systems are outside of the scope of this book. We mention because they are being an important part of the development environment.
