NetBeans
NetBeans was first created in 1996 as a Java IDE student project at Charles University in Prague. In 1997, a company was created around the project, and produced commercial versions of the NetBeans IDE. In 1999, it was acquired by Sun Microsystems. In 2010, after the acquisition of Sun Microsystems by Oracle, NetBeans became part of the open source Java products produced by Oracle, with a contribution from a large community of developers.
NetBeans IDE became the official IDE for Java 8 and could be downloaded together with JDK 8 in the same bundle; see http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-netbeans-jsp-142931.html.
