So many OOD principles and so little time

If you search for OOD principles on the internet, you can easily find many lists that include dozens of recommended design principles. And all of them make sense. 

For example, here are the five most popular OOD principles often bundled together under the abbreviation SOLID (composed from the first letters of the principles' titles): 

• Single Responsibility Principle: A class should have only one responsibility
• Open Closed Principle: A class should encapsulate its functionality (be closed) but be able to be extended
• Liskov Substitution Principle: An object should be replaceable (substituted) by its child and still not break the program
