The Release Lifecycle

One of the principal motivations for this book is to share practices that translate

the concepts and theories of release management into practical activities that can

jumpstart a release practice. So far the basic concepts of release management have

been discussed; these concepts form a basis for the use of the release lifecycle (RLC).

ent steps and activities. During the RLC, various artifacts will be used to illustrate

the types of activities and information that need to be captured, documented, and
