It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Explaining client authentication
Client authentication is a mechanism that authenticates the client by using its public key certificate instead of a username and password, such as in basic and form-based authentication. This mechanism is considered more secure because it uses HTTP over SSL (HTTPS) and uses the client's public key certificate.
