I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The circuit-breaker mechanism
The circuit breaker functions as a proxy by routing the request to the operation or returning an exception immediately. The pattern has this name because its operation is similar to an electric circuit. This proxy has three distinct states, as demonstrated in the following diagram:
- Closed: The proxy sends the request to the operation. The proxy maintains a sequential counter of previous failures. If the execution of the operation fails, this counter is incremented. If the failure counter exceeds an established threshold, the proxy switches to an open state. However, at this point, a timer is started with a specified timeout time.
