So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Operating with dates
Dates are one of the most common data types and there is a vast set of operations that you may need to apply to Date fields:
- Extracting parts of a date, for example, the year
- Given a date, getting some descriptions, for example, the weekday
- Adding dates
- Comparing dates
PDI offers a lot of possibilities to manipulate Date fields. However, these features are not organized in a single place inside Spoon. There are several steps in different steps categories that allow you to manipulate dates. Also, given a particular operation, there is usually a couple of ways to perform it. This section is meant to present you the different options.
