Creating text files

For generating plain files with PDI, there is a single step, that is the Text file output step that you used in the previous section. It allows you to generate all kinds of plain files: files with or without headers, unstructured files, or even fixed-width files. The configuration of the step is simple. What can be difficult, depending on your requirements, is to build the exact format of the output. In later chapters, you will learn to apply different techniques that will help you to generate any custom dataset ready for sending to an output file.
