Passion Projects
My first graphic design teacher, John DuFresne was a tough cookie. On the first day of class he sat all of us down for a talk. He said, “Being a graphic designer is hard. If you took this class because you thought it would be easy to make simple little logos, you’re fooling yourself. To be a successful designer, you’re going to have to work harder and longer than most doctors. Anyone who does not have a real passion for graphic design needs to march out of this room right now and go switch your major.”
John was right. Passion is the fuel that drives the best design work. You are always going to push yourself a little more if your heart is in it.
