LIGHT-ACTIVATED ALARM CLOCK
Would you like an optical alarm clock triggered by
sunlight? If you are self-employed or retired and
want to rise with the sun, the circuit in Figure
F
is for you. The circuit is silent when the cadmium
sulfide photoresistor is dark. When sunlight (or
any other light source) strikes the photoresistor,
the op amp switches Q1 on, which actuates a
piezo buzzer.
Place the circuit near your bed so the buzzer
will sound when light through a window is bright
enough to begin your day. Potentiometer R1 can
be used to adjust the sensitivity of the circuit.
As you have probably noticed by now, this
simple circuit has other applications. ...
