It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Case Study: The Organizational Model(s) of eBay
Up to this point, I’ve talked about classification schemes and models of association as though they existed in isolation from one another. Obviously, this is not the case. Like males and females, classification schemes and taxonomies can be talked about one at a time, but they don’t get really interesting until you toss them together.
As the entry point to “The World’s Online Marketplace,” the goal of eBay’s home page is to get visitors to relevant merchandise as quickly as possible. To aid in this task, the page combines a number of classification schemes and models of association (see Figure 6.19).
