Availability |
Availability is improved. As with active/passive elements, loss of an element due to failure or maintenance does not mean the system ceases to function. In cases where we would have a much lower capacity redundant element for reasons of cost, load-balanced elements are likely to provide better capacity. Unlike active/passive elements, load-balanced elements can also cope with multiple failures or failure during maintenance. |
|
Performance |
Performance is negatively impacted as the load balancer needs to determine the element to which it should forward a request. |
