Reasons to Measure
In Measurement Demystified, we focused on the foundational elements of measurement, including why, what, how, and when to measure. We discussed the interplay between measurement and reporting, and how your reasons to measure (why) can influence why you report. For example, if your reason to measure is to monitor activity against a threshold, then your reports should display the activity levels of a department, program, or course compared with the threshold at specific points in time. Similarly, your list of what to measure implies that each measure will show up in at least one report, and more likely, multiple reports.
