There may be applications where every task that needs to be executed is periodic, such as a push button that needs to be sampled every 10 milliseconds; a display that needs to be updated 60 times per second; or a sensor that is sampled at 10 Hz or interrupts when a value has gone out of range. In purely periodic systems, developers can architect their software to use periodic timers to execute tasks. Each timer can be set up to represent a single task that is executed at the desired rate.
