SQL Server Auditing
Introduced with SQL Server 2008 is the SQL Server Audit feature. This long-overdue feature now adds a great native auditing functionality into the SQL Server Database Engine.

The SQL Server Audit feature is available only in the SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and Developer Editions.
An audit is the combination of several elements into a single package for a specific group of server actions or database actions. The components of SQL Server Audit combine to produce an output that is called an audit.
