Almost every book that we have read on scaling large or distributed teams recommends that feature teams exist in one location if possible. This is seen as a prerequisite to the collaboration that is so necessary in agile. However, we recognize that it is difficult, if not impossible, for some organizations to change their existing distributed structure.
