INTRODUCTION
Over the past decade, direct-to-home (DTH) satellite systems, sometimes called direct broadcast satellite (DBS) systems, have emerged as one of the primary delivery methods of digital television (DTV) to consumers. Approximately one-fourth of U.S. households depend on subscription-based satellite systems to meet their entertainment, news, educational, and interactive television needs.2
