I would like to clarify two concepts that will be used frequently in this section. One is ‘complex adaptive system’ and the other is ‘edge of chaos’.
A complex adaptive system (CAS) has been defined by writers in the complexity and chaos field. According to Glenda Eoyang from HSD (2010) through her teaching programme, ‘CAS is a collection of individual agents who have the freedom to act in unpredictable ways, and whose actions are interconnected such that one agent’s actions changes the context for other agents’.
