Chapter 7. The master.cf Configuration File

Once the Postfix software is installed, the next step is to configure it to work properly in your particular e-mail environment. Postfix uses straightforward plain-text files to assign values to intuitive parameter names.

The Postfix master program controls when and how the Postfix core programs are started and stopped. The mail administrator can control how the master program performs these tasks by editing the master.cf configuration file.
