INTRODUCTION
Over the years, the Internet has grown from a research tool to a worldwide communications medium. One of the applications that has grown up with the Internet is e-mail. What was once a convenient method of sending quick messages to mainframe terminal users is now a multimillion-dollar enterprise. As some of the recent e-mail viruses have shown us, many companies cannot do business when their e-mail systems are down.
Home users have also jumped on the e-mail bandwagon. Internet service providers (ISPs) are rapidly popping up all across the world to support the high demand for home e-mail accounts.
