It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

In this chapter I look at why it is imperative that you start your data migration journey by understanding the legacy environment. I describe the legacy data store concept and explain how to find, document and manage the large number of legacy data stores you are likely to encounter on even the most modest of data migrations. I introduce you to master data management as it applies to data migration. Finally, I look at the use of software tools to perform data profiling and how this activity is integrated into PDMv3.
