This part of the book describes the importance of data to the enterprise, introduces the concept of database design, and considers the roles and responsibilities of data management within an enterprise. This part has three chapters.
Chapter 1 – Data and the Enterprise – introduces the idea that information is a key business resource. It starts by exploring the relationship between information and data, and introduces the different types of data.
