This chapter looks at data and web technology. We examine the concept of the web and its associated technologies, HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and eXtensible Markup Language (XML). We then look at some approaches to linking databases and web technology. We follow this with a brief look at cloud computing. We conclude by introducing the concept of the Semantic Web.
