On-the-job Procedures

Many in-plant units, television stations, small production houses, and similar groups require their Operative Camera personnel to perform what are, in the major film studios, the duties of the Camera Assistant. These are functions that all Camera professionals, regardless of status or place of employment, must know, and know well, if they are to work effectively on their own assignments.

Some of this chapter’s information concerns older cameras with offset viewfinder or variable-speed “wild” motors. Camera Professionals are educated in time-tested procedures.
