Summary
For applications that work with BLOB data, FILESTREAM greatly enhances the storage and performance of unstructured content in the database by leveraging the native NTFS file system. It does this while maintaining logical integration between the database and file system that includes transactional support. As a result, you no longer need to compromise between efficiency and complexity as you did in the past when faced with the choice of storing BLOB data inside or outside the database.
