The motor driver is designed such that it can act as a prototyping platform. There is a bank of 5V and 3.3V power supply pins that is connected to the Raspberry Pi Zero's 5V and 3.3V GPIO pins. These GPIO pins are rated to provide a current of 1.5A (Source: https://pinout.xyz/pinout/pin2_5v_power). They are directly connected to the 5V USB input of your Raspberry Pi Zero. (The USB battery pack used in this robot is rated to provide an output of 5V, 1 A).
