に対して教師なし学習を行い、データの背後にある構造を学習したり、ラベルなしで類似したトランザ
クションや画像をグループ分けした。
教師なし学習は時系列データ（
time series data
）に対しても非常に有用だ。時系列データとは

対象に対してさまざまな時点での観測点があるようなデータを指す。特定の瞬間におけるデータの背
後にある構造ではなく、時系列に沿った構造を学習することのできるシステムを開発する必要がある。
そのようなシステムを開発できれば、類似した時系列パターンを特定し、グループに分けることができ
る。
この技術は、金融、薬学、ロボティクス、天文学、生物学、気象などの分野に大きなインパクトを
持つ。これらの分野では、現在見ているイベントが過去のイベントとどれだけ類似しているかを長大な
時間をかけて分析しているからだ。現在見ているイベントを過去の類似したイベントのグループに分類
することができれば、これらの分野のエキスパートも、自信を持ってどうするべきか判断できるだろう。
