| Q1: | I chose to customize my installation. What are the differences between the GNOME and KDE environments, selectable at the Package Group Selection screen? |
| A1: | In Fedora Core 4, GNOME is simpler, easier to use, and more closely tied to the included Red Hat system administration tools. Using KDE in Fedora Core 4 will require more configuration before you are able to use it comfortably, but it is also more powerful and programmable and offers a wider range of configuration options. If in doubt, you can install both at once; you can then switch between them easily. Note that the content of this book is written with the GNOME desktop in mind. |
