89. Communicate with Congruence
Exceptional leaders have more influence because every aspect of their message resonates as a coherent, unified complement to every other part of the message. They know they have about eight seconds to connect with their listeners because people only take that long to decide whether a particular speaker is worth their time. They also understand they have about thirty seconds to maintain their listeners' attention. Congruent communication enhances the leader's ability to meet those difficult demands.
