This is about trying to figure out whether we have a one-, three-, or six-month project on our hands. We can’t get much more precise than that at this point in our project, but we still need to give our sponsors some idea of when they can expect their software to be delivered, even if it is only a really rough guess.

We’ll go over all the details of how agile estimation works in Chapter 7, Estimation: The Fine Art of Guessing. But for now, pretend the team has already done the estimates for the project, and here we are just presenting the results.
