Fan Tokens Are the Future of Web3

When I (John) was knee‐deep in building my NFT autograph company, we decided to join forces with an accelerator in Tel Aviv, Israel. This accelerator was a hub of Web3 sports startups, all aiming to shake up the world of ticketing and fan experiences at sporting events. Stadiums can pack in over 100,000 passionate souls, and currently all they have access to are a few concession stands and some merchandise.

Back in the ’80s, when they graced the streets of LA, I was a die‐hard Rams fan. Then they made their way to St. Louis, which stung, and I hated the team for abandoning me. Even now, with the Rams back in LA and conquering Super Bowls, I can't help but hold a grudge. That team left me, and I abandoned their community right along with it.

Imagine if I had some fan tokens in my pocket, giving me actual influence over what the team does. I could have some say in their decisions, score exclusive VIP opportunities, and even trade those fan tokens. Suddenly, staying part of the community would have been fulfilling. I would never have abandoned them because I would always have been a part of the community. Fan tokens could also be called NFTs, but I prefer the “fan tokens” because it's easier jargon ...
