doing. This kind of learning cannot be removed from where the

learning occurs, although sometimes the lessons learned can be

abstracted into the earlier levels of learning.

These levels overlap. Some of the levels would not be taught in a busi-

ness context (e.g., very generic). Others are commonly taught in discipline

schools (e.g., in college engineering curricula) or are developed external to

the business. As the learning becomes more and more specific, the involve-

ment of the business in the creation and delivery of the learning must

increase, because the content largely references knowledge that is present

only in the business.

At the most detailed level, there is only one place that this learning can
