SEXUAL HARASSMENT: INTRODUCTION
Sexual harassment became a legitimate theory of discrimination when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Meritor Savings Bank v. Vinson, 477 U.S. 57 (1986), that sexual harassment is a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
It has developed into a complex and broad area of law costing U.S. businesses approximately 50 million per year in settled payouts, according to statistics from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
