Vijay Tella
Vijay Tella is founder and CEO of the automation platform Workato. The company is the culmination of his pioneering work in both the enterprise automation and consumer‐facing software spaces.
In the enterprise automation space, he helped found two multibillion‐dollar products. This includes the industry's first middleware product, “The Information Bus” (TIB) at Teknekron, with the role of VP of Core Technology group when Teknekron was acquired by Reuters in 1994 for $275M. He went on to become the founding SVP of engineering at Tibco Software, which went public in 1999 and today produces over $1B in annual revenues with over 4,000 employees. He then became chief strategy officer at Oracle, launching and growing the Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMW) platform into a $2.6B line of business when he left in 2008. To this day, FMW is the technical underpinning of Oracle's business applications.
In the consumer‐facing software space, Vijay co‐founded a consumer video app called Qik, which was acquired by Skype in 2011. This deep dive into consumer technology sparked the realization that the user experience we all have come to expect from consumer apps was a crucial missing ingredient for successful enterprise automation.
