Remembering that one of the prime jobs of composition is to keep the interest going, there are times when it may be a better idea to go against the expected ways of focusing attention clearly on one subject. The bright portraits (politicians’ publicity campaign) on the side of this cart in Chennai, India, were naturally eye-catching, but needed some animation to become a photograph. That came in the form of the poultry being loaded in baskets, and it seemed more fun to frame and angle the shot to divide it in a way that doesn’t let the eye rest anywhere for long.
