It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Optics are not only what make photography possible, they also give images some unique characteristics not normally found in other media. If you want to indulge an obsession for equipment, I’d suggest that you’re always better off lavishing attention on the lenses, because their style and quality deeply affect the image.
