Layer Styles

I think it’s safe to assume that most Photoshop users have applied a layer style such as Drop Shadow, Bevel, or Emboss to a layer. However, I’m often surprised at the number of people who don’t take full advantage of layer styles by creating reusable, one-click styles. Especially when you see how easy they are to create and edit.

Once you apply a series of layer styles to a layer and are happy with the results, go to the Styles panel and click the New Style icon. Name the style (Figure 6.27). You can also save a style while you’re in the Layer Style dialog by clicking the New Style button.
