Long gone are the days when project management involved little more than mastering a schedule and monthly budget, delivered by technical experts who were assigned or assumed the role of “project manager” by dint of their specialist knowledge. Instead, today’s project management environment is characterised by benefits realisation, challenging external pressures, complex organisations and often requires sophisticated analytic methods, evolving management tools and a wide range of people from many disciplines to be involved.
